新山: Guide

新山（马来文：Johor Bahru，馬來爪夷文： جوهر بهارو ）是马来西亚在马来半岛最南端的城市，有“大马南方门户”之称，是柔佛州和新山县的首府。人口約100萬，为馬來西亞第二大城市。

地理

新山位于北纬1度29分，东经103度44分，正当柔佛州海峽的北部。从新山市区，可以經新柔长堤通往新加坡的兀兰新镇。新山是由新山城市理事会 (Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru) 管理，城市周围的地方由新山市政理事会 (Majlis Perbandaran Johor Bahru Tengah) 管理。

历史

新山是在1855年由德文公.德影.依不拉欣 (Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim) 成立的，那时候新山通称为丹宗.布特里 (Tanjung Puteri)。1866年丹宗.布特里由苏丹阿布峇卡 (Sultan Abu Bakar) 把他的直落布兰雅 (Telok Blangah) 搬来到丹宗.布特里。同时，苏丹也把旧名正式地改为新山。

早期的港主制度是在19世纪初期由港主成立的，港主也吸引了许多华人从中国到南洋来到新山种黑儿茶和黑胡椒粉。 南来的华人在新山落脚后从一个小鱼村, 逐渐发展成一个商镇. 新山由五个不同籍贯的华人组成, 分别是潮籍, 广东, 闽籍, 客家和琼籍. 当时的新山市被纱玉河 (Sungei Segget) 分成两边, 一边由广东人聚居, 另一边则由潮州人聚居, 其他籍贯的华人则散居在当中. 广东人多从事建筑业, 黄亚福先生就是当中的佼佼者. 潮州人多从事杂货米粮生意, 海南人多开咖啡店. 黄亚福也是当时的港主. 他利用现今已变成臭河的纱玉河来进行贸易. 使寂静无名的新山 (前称旧山) 变成繁忙的对外港口. 黄亚福也是建筑承包商, 他于当时的苏丹阿布峇卡关系密切, 还把其妹妹嫁给苏丹. 苏丹阿布峇卡还将建筑大皇宫的工程交给黄亚福. 他从中国引进优秀的工匠, 将清真与中国宫廷风格容为一体, 是本地不可多得的历史建筑物. 这所大皇宫经已改成博物院 (旧为皇宫) 公开给民众参观. 大皇宫中尚可看到许多篆刻在墙上的中文诗词和充满中华色彩的建筑特色.

华人为早起开拓功臣, 这可从许多现有建筑物及古庙考查. 当中柔佛古庙见证了新山的历史. 在90年代, 洲政府以发展为理由强行征用庙地, 新山华社奋不顾身, 甚至以身躯捍卫着柔佛古庙, 但始终敌不过州政府的一纸通令下, 见证新山百年风霜的古庙围墙被无情的发展洪流推倒了. 庆幸保住了柔佛古庙的庙身. 但它对当地的华社意义不减. 曾经为了保存庙地, 当地华社付出了许多努力, 也因为这件事, 新山华社更努力的维护着柔佛古庙, 不让他再被州政府无情摧毁.

經濟

為馬來半島三座主要城市之一(吉隆坡與檳城)，新山為重要的工業與商業城市。它的大型企業包括電子、資源和石油化學的精煉廠和造船工業。

新山一般被視為新加坡面對馬來西亞市場的腹地，彼此的角色被認為類似於中國的深圳與香港。

人口

新山人口大约有 1,000,000人. 人口之中, 马来人占45%, 华人約佔42%. 早期住在新山市区的华人以潮籍居多, 因此有"小汕头"之称, 随着经济的膨勃发展, 多的移民迁入新山,客籍和福建籍人士在新山华人之内也占相当比例的人口. 地华社以中华公会为首, "五帮"为各籍代表. 五帮即潮帮, 闽帮, 客帮, 粤帮及琼帮. 五帮同心协力建设新山的经济, 人文. 也见证了新山的变迁。

美食

位于新山士古来区有闻名遐尔的各种鸭肉美食.有药材鸭,卤鸭以及烤鸭等.

教育

大学
马来西亚工艺大学 坐落于士古来. 创建于一九七六年, 以工程系为主.

学院
南方学院~ 一所华社所创办的高等学府. 坐落于金山园.

圣约瑟小学, 新山有最大的中学,也有全马来西亚最大的小学.因为人口密集,而新山的华文小学,只有区区几间,为了让孩子们能接受基本的华文教育,学生家长千方百计的将孩子送入华文小学,因此,新山区的华文小学间间都人数爆满,有些学校人数甚至高达几千人.
